Also got several slides of a Cavalier TF that popped up at CWH one day in, I think, early 1987. Same basic livery but plainer, with no nose art. Silver-doped rudder. Neat machine. Never saw it again. Think the reg was C-GXUQ but could be wrong.

Steve,

Doubt it was XUQ as I think it was Six Shooter by then and it wasn't a TF...but it could have been Neil McClain's XUR. It is now the TF flying with Tom Friedkin in Chino.

Hey Jim--

Soon as I saw your ID on this thread a light went on and I remembered N232J. That scheme wasn't totally accurate, but closer than most, and probably the nearest anyone's come to replicating the late-RCN finish. (The most authentic Canuck Fury livery flown, far as I know, is the early grey/Sky on the Sanders' "Argonaut").

Re all the former local stuff...stop it, you're depressing me. I'll have to try and find those slides of that TF at the Hope. Y'know, my mind (aged as it is) could be playing tricks. It WAS a Bolivian Cavalier...but now I can't swear to it having been a dual. The "Q" in the registration does stick in my mind. If it were Rick Korff's bird on delivery, that'd make sense...(and while we're at it, there's another paintscheme I wouldn't much mind seeing go into the paint shop and not come out 8) )...If I find the slides I'll re-post.

Jim--

Found the slides. Mind is going. Partially, anyway. The Bolivian Mustang at the Hope that day was a straight Cavalier F-51D, not a TF. I did recall the reg'n right, though--C-GXUQ in white on the fin (with "FAB 520" also on the fin in smaller letters). Silver rudder, camo trim tab; rest of airframe very similar to C-GMUS except no nose art--red spinner, sharkmouth, et cetera. So I guess this is Korff's bird after all. Never realized the connection. Must say I like the FAB livery better...BTW the slides seem to have been taken in the latter half of 1986, not 1987.

Tangerine was one of the first P-51s I ever shot back at Hamilton in 1975. It eventually became Bradley's CF-BAU. I think I had one roll of film to shoot the show. My dad used about 15 rolls. Sure glad I have the pics to remember the old days.
