I understand the skepticism, everybody has heard the "found in a barn, found in a junkyard, found on the roof of a gas station, found in a block of ice" stories, but there really shouldn't be a lot of doubt about the Phillipines story, just look at the pics. I also believe the guy who told me about all the buried B17s, he was stationed at the base after all.

The logistics of successful recovery are another matter, but its very likely that these aircraft, and others not mentioned, still exist out there.

I got a note this morning from a friend in the Philippines, Tony is very knowledgeable on the Philippine campaigns and he is a airplane nut..........................

Yup, a lot of them were scrapped after the at the Clark complex particularly near the Sacobia river area. I do have the photos when they were being scrapped.

Chances are the area has been buried further by the Mt. Pinatubo eruption of 91. In fact there was a rumor that an Australian restorers tried to excavate a P-38 but he encountered problems with the government.

More on this later when I get home tonight.
Tony

I will update this......................

I think that some of his statements were challenged so he took his ball and went elsewhere.
