thanks for posting the pictures - and I loved the article. You captured Duncan perfectly! He's been a very dear friend for many years, but unfortunately, I don't get to visit him as often as I'd like.

Are they trying to make that Harpoon look like a Hudson bomber?

Yes 37107 is undergoing a long slow rebuild. It is an immense effort to restore such a large bomber to the level that I have requested from Airpower Unlimited. It will get done someday, as I get the money and as John can break his crew away from the fantastic work they are doing on Corsairs :)

37107 is interesting because it served with ASDEVLANT the Atlantic Fleet Anti Submarine Development Squadron. Our research shows that it was the only PV-2 in the Atlantic fleet to wear Sea Search, which is how I am restoring it.

We have all the military equipment for the airplane (actually two full sets, now) and plan to return to its stock condition.

In reply to Michel C-- The camo PV-2 at Mesa is years and megabucks away from flying. The owner has lost interest somewhat. The decaying PV belongs to Kermit Weeks and is still there. Another PV that was on the other side of the field also belongs to Weeks and was in about the same condition. Tony Ritzman and a crew from Aerotrader got it ferriable and flew it to Borrego Springs. Here are a few more pics of Kermits PV

BDK......I have been sluffing off, and have not made it to the Rialto Airport due to shear laziness...and it sometimes is hard manuvering an 18 wheeler around So. Cal. areas...Don't quote me, but I believe a well known warbird restorer in the area owns this PV...Mine was missing the pilot/copilot seats, and these were going to possibly be a source for my a/c, but some loose ones turned up. I know that this a/c is being used as a parts doner for an owner that has a rather large privately owned airforce in central Fla., shoot, it is probably owned by this person...thanks for posting the pics....Gary

...Chris....the Pv at Las Cruces is owned by Southwest Aviation, and is for sale...$79,000....the guy also has a Douglas B-26 (disassembled) and an airworth T-33.....Met a homebuilder there that is an ex-WWII P-38 pilot...built a prop driven replica of a Swedish Viggen fighter..ULTRA COOL!....Gary

Skippy, nice pictures...I also photographed the PV-2s at Buffalo in march of 2006, when I got my first dig. camera. Harpoon N7670C is owned by a guy in Utah, in fact I met him at Falcon Field last week...He told me that he is planning to get it flown out of Buffalo, I believe this week...he was trying to get someone qualified/rated to fly it out to Heber,Ut...I was hoping to be there... N7272C, and N7080C are owned by a real nice fellow from Mississippi, I believe he also owns a couple of Howards as well.....he is supposed to show up in Buffalo this Oct., As for N7458C...well, it's kinda like eating an elephant, ya gotta do it one bite at a time.......I have the elevators removed, STBD aileron..wing tip..leading edge removed...got the flaps operating....getting things ready to remove the outter wing panels..I've got my seats purchased...and have the engine mounts, and I'm working on locating cowling panels, engines, props, bomb bay doors, turret, and all season money trees. That may explain why it doesn't have a red sticker on it!

Gary- We have a PV-2D @ our ranch in N.california. John Hirth flew it in
for us in the '90's. My grandfather owned several, and this is the last of his fleet. Good luck with the restoration.
