We have to be careful with the name.
I caused a shock a few weeks back when I was corresponding with someone about a friend's recently completed project.
I said "His next project is TBD"...which got him excited.

I didn't say it WAS a TBD, rather I meant "to be determined".

Words can be tricky sometimes...

With the ridiculous amount of scratchbuilding skill shops have these days, it's really too bad someone hasn't taken the initiative to build a TBD. Maybe we'll get to see one of the big name collectors put up the money to have one built some day.

I just found a Martin PBM Mariner seat at Oshkosh and bought it for a friend. He's building a collection of items. There's only one Mariner in existence and only one or two ever went on the civil register.
We've covered this topic before. Basically, try to find a data plate from a crash site. Scavenge every part possible from know crash sites. Put ads out that you are looking for TBD parts and items. Meanwhile, cross reference other Douglas aircraft from that era like the Dauntless, DC-2, DC-3, Dolphin, etc., etc.,
There's a lot of stuff sitting out there that people haven't listed or given up trying to sell. Wheels, tires, avionics, maybe start with the front cockpit.

Funny that you mention this, but shortly after the 307 was restored for NASM, I visited the Resto facility for the Museum of Flight in Seattle and there was what was (apparently) serious talk at Boeing about building a 314, since they had a lot of expertise around and familiarity with the systems after the 307 restoration.

I'm guessing the bean counters nipped that in the bud.
