This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Then I win, I win.
My unfair advantage is less than your unfair advantage!

Rick H is correct, though...Bf-108s
were dressed up as
faux-109s for "Von Ryan's Express" (as well as "The Longest Day.")
I was going to post a pic, but I can't figure out how to capture a frame from the DVD. I used to be able to, but I downloaded a newer version of Windows Media Player that doesn't seem to give you the option!

I was too late to win a relief tube?
Rats. I'm pissed.

Great to see a photo of it from the 1960s. At least I assume that's probably it. I think Cliff purchased it after filming "Up From The Beach" but I'll need to check that. He still owns it as well as a Stampe SV4C. I don't think it will take much work to get it flying but I'm probably crazy. It's got German German parts, French German parts, and French French parts. As far as I know, Cliff really wants to see if airworthy again so to the extent that we are able, that's what we will try to do. Sure is an interesting wing fold mechanism.

I'm surpised the leading edge slats haven't fallen off. I used to constantly have to scold kids (and adults) for slamming them open and shut!
Mr. Robertson used to keep both the 108 and his Spit IX at the Air Zoo. Jerry Billings used to fly the spit, but I never saw the 108 fly during its stay in Kalamazoo. In fact, I was told it left on a truck..I heard bound for somewhere in the Northeast, but no one seemed to know for sure.
