This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I'm a member of the local EAA chapter of Warbirds, and I think they are a great bunch of people. Our organization has a lot of fun and gets things done. We are a very active Warbird chapter, and I think this is largely due to good leadership and a very accepting attitude towards new members. Motivated and committed leadership seems essential...I've seen the club fragment rapidly when leadership loses momentum. Pilots being very mobile, sometimes members will run for office only to miss nearly every meeting once they are elected. But routine elections and fresh blood help mitigate that.

I think two essential ingredients for any warbird organization are regular elections (to insure motivated leadership) and good communications (newsletter, website, etc, which helps keep everyone involved).

I'm curious about EAA Warbirds and the various chapters.

You state that "Our organization has a lot of fun and gets things done", but that's a little too ambiguous. Could you state specifically some things that make it fun for you and the other members? What kinds of projects do you work at or sponsor? Do all the chapters have similar goals, program, etc.? Are the chapters actively involved in warbird acquisition, recovery, restoration, and operation?

Thank you.

There is an EAA group here, that when the CAF wing was looking at loosing their hangar, offered to house the two aircraft for free in one of their hangars. That is what the small world of aviation should be like.
