Darwin.

Funnily enough, I was just looking this place up on the web last night for another reason. Apparently there's an interesting aeroplane museum there now, and it's quite close to a major city that, so I'm told, is a nice place to live.

Does that sound as if I'm getting warm, James?

Your warmer, but too warm & tropical. Less (almost no) palms at this location.

Indeed. Been military flying there a long, long time...

Maybe, but you still should be in bed. You'll turn into a pumpkin in 2 minutes!

Okay, so you've got me intrigued now James. What were those funny-looking Vought floaty-thingies doing so far from home? I don't suppose they were there for the cricket!

Correct. Have a warm fuzzy feeling Peter.

The Grumman Duck is on the tarmac (ramp) of the W.W.I era seaplane base at RAAF Point Cook, Victoria, Australia during W.W.II. The Voughts were visiting Point Cook with their fleet; maybe the second visit to Melbourne by the US Navy after the famous 'Great White Fleet' visit of the turn of the century.

The area from the air.

Port Philip Bay is very shallow throughout, the seaplane launching pier at Point Cook is very long as a result. The city nearby is Melbourne, which is my location in the panel to the left.

Jack's other 50% is Cook, get the Point? (Hence not a Pointless Quiz). The base is now home to the RAAF Museum, where the photos are from.

Mike, there were all sorts of interesting visitors to Melbourne, over the years.

Hope people had fun...

Sorry, the game's over. Maybe another quiz next week.

Thanks. Something different.

As soon as I saw seaplanes/hangers and JDK together in one post, I knew it just had to be Point Cook.
