Congratulations to...

Retroaviation (Gary Austin) as 2007 WIX MVP with 30% of the MVP vote!

and Co-MVP Jack Cook with 25% of the vote! The co-MVP vote pretty much looked the same.

We'll be posting the custom designed t-shirts after the first of the year... and the MVPs will be forced to take pictures of themselves in them.

So you know what that means Jack... we'll be seeing a new shot of your mug to replace the ones from your Navy days!

Congrats!

Although I'm new here, the best storie I read in my short time was Gary's Reno saga! I think it says loads about his passion & perserverance!

Well done to both!!

Wow! I'd like to thank the Acadamy and I'd like to send a shout-out to my peeps in the Warbird community out there in the 'hood that voted for me.

Seriously though, I really do appreciate the honor. It shows that y'all are truly interested in some of the "inside scoop" about what it takes to keep these Warbirds flying. I'm also glad to see that the trend that was essentially started with the B-24 thread has spread and seems to be contagious. I always look forward to reading updates about all of those projects out there, be it on an F-86, a PBJ, a Mustang, or whatever. Similarly, pilot reports about eventful flights are interesting to me as well. What it all boils down to is that I think it's always great to be able to learn from other people's experiences, whether they are good or bad. And to have folks like Jack Cook on WIX, sharing his wonderful old photographs, it's like a cool bonus.

Thanks y'all! :D

Gary

Gary and Jack, ain't that a surprise! Gary's series on the B-24 would be hard to top unless someone else restores the Spruce Goose, or the B-29, or a ground up one on a Mossi or something that rare. And his Reno stuff was well written also. And Jack has all those great photos and some good laughs too.
I sort of made up my mind to try to vote for someone new this year, I put off for days voting and then Jack posted a combat photo of a Spitfire and in the end I just could not leave him out.
