Who says WIX isn’t entertaining?

Mon Mar 03, 2008 3:56 pm

August, please read your PM .... I'm tired of the public comments on this bull. And while you're at it, re-read this:

One last thing, if Scott had a location for stupid, uneducated, lack of warbird knowledge and outright un-interesting posts. Well, then you all would know where to find my posts, but so far, I'm getting away with them here ... haha

Give me a break

In the grand scheme of things, I'm really a "nobody". I'm not a pilot. I'm not an A&P mechanic. I don't own a warbird. I don't know bunches of great warriors. I'm not on a first-name basis with the "who's who" of the warbird world. I wouldn't know most of them if they walked right up and looked me in the eye. I'm just a part-time, unskilled, volunteer "worker droid" at a small museum. I don't know if my opinions and views carry any weight here or not, but something's wrong here, and it really bothers me. Up to this point, I've been silent about all of the recent conflict, friction, rudeness, and unfriendliness that's been going on here on the WIX. Perhaps I should continue to keep my mouth (fingers?) shut, but sometimes I just can't help myself.

The personal attacks have gotten completely out of hand. They are not necessary; not now, not ever. They contribute nothing useful to the WIX or to those who read the posts here. We are all adults. Why is it so difficult for some of us to behave like adults? If someone takes a mean-spirited poke at you, just ignore it and move on. Take the high road. What good does it do to respond to a personal attack? If you fire back, you're going to look like just as big an idiot as the attacker. By the same token, if someone posts something that you don't like, don't slap them around. If you want to DISCUSS it, then discuss it in a friendly way. Don't attack the poster. Let it slide, guys. Before you post anything, before you hit the "Submit" key, take a moment and read it over carefully. Evaluate what you've typed. Look at it from the point of view of a complete stranger. What would that stranger think of you after reading what you've written? Will he or she think you're an inconsiderate jerk, or will they have a high opinion of you? How would you want them to feel about you? Go back and read it again. Ask those same questions again. THINK about it before you post it.

During my fairly brief time here on WIX, it's generally been a lot of fun. I'd sure like to see it stay that way.

Cheers!

It's the "winter blues" and it's happening on boards everywhere... :?

Mon Mar 03, 2008 4:34 pm

I guess I should post one last time on this thread, first I'm very sorry and embarrassed for losing my temper. I'm a passionate man who tries to be respectful and honorable. For a while there today I slipped, and slipped bad, for that I am truely sorry. John Wayne says, "apologies are a sign of weakness" well then I'm weak, but just today ... haha

David, Ryan and all others who read my meltdowns today, I apologize. even though I'm close to being perfect, UGH!!!!!, I'm NOT!!! .... ouch!!! that hurt my throat ... haha ... I don't know everything about everything, close, but not everything. If you can't laugh at yourself, what good are you? I took a few posts a little too personal today and reacted like a loser.

Again those of you I offended, sorry, those of you I didn't, give me some time, I will eventually, ...

Scott will do what he does best, he'll purge the posts that cause friction and we all will move on.

I wish it were the winter blues! I am starting to feel like I’m getting behind the eight ball with the C-46. Some of you guys should get your butts down to your local war bird hangar and burn a little of this pent up energy on something meaningful.

Hellcat, just so you know, David Aiken is widely regarded as THE most authoritative historian on Pearl Harbor. He "owns" and set up the following website, which has the most comprehensive and accurate forum on Pearl Harbor on the internet:

http://www.pearlharborattacked.com/

In addition, he has set up the Pearl Harbor History Associates, a non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving the memory and recognition of the contributions of vets who were at the most infamous attack in history.

He is no kid and is a professional 50-something year old Historian.

Hellcat, you should just cool down a little. David meant nothing personal.

Apology completely accepted!

What the board really needs is a topic that is really interesting, has a lot of narration to go with the photos, and is constantly looked at. Something that will keep EVERYBODY interested, all winter long, and maybe even fly around for all to see the following summer.

WHERES GARY!

My projects are way too boring, we are painting our Biplane shelf in USAAC colors this weekend. :o

What a great idea! You wanna burn some excess energy working on a warbird? Try changing a turbosupercharger on a B-17. (which is what I helped work on this past Saturday).

Cheers!

I wrote my post, there were some nice answers, then I went out for awhile and when I got back it was snarly again. I went to the site and read the post from Hellcat and David. I feel there was nothing wrong with Hellcats "what if" question about Pearl Harbor. I even thoght about adding to it, what if the US had gotten the warning from the radar site and had 45 min to man the ships guns and get some planes(warbirds) up? I think David's comments are out of line; with talk of someone wanting the US to lose or of not respecting the men who fought at Pearl Harbor. Neither of those are in anything Hellcat wrote, and and seem an underhanded and dishonest personal attack, don't know why or where he gets this from. Scott had a "what if" about UK, it became an normal discussion, no insults needed.

I'm sorry, but my stuff isn't all that interesting these days. All I really have to post is stuff on my little racer, and that just doesn't seem to do it for most of the Warbird crowd.

Whatever! I think the B-24, F-86, A-4, PBJ , racer rebuild/maintenance threads are the best here!
