Let's see some pics. Anyone have any?

I have photos from when I flew Kermit's B-24 to MacDill AFB for an airshow, as well as when we flew in formation with the Collings B-24. 1995, if I recall correctly. I'll see if I can find them and post them. The last time it flew was in November of 1995, when we flew it to Fantasy of Flight from Lakeland. Regarding the hours on the airframe, it has a lot more than 1,000 hours, as it was flown by the IAF for decades, until David Tallichet bought it. One IAF crew spent their entire 20 year careers flying that one aiframe. I seem to recall it had many thousands of hours, but Paul would be able to confrim that, not me. It flew as nicely as the Collings aircraft, and had almost all of the original equipment in it, including the turbosupercharger controls. The formation photos of the two 24s together were taken from a third aircraft.

Somewhere on VHS I have the 1977 movie it was featured in "Young Joe the Forgotten Kenedy". It might be time to look for that one. I remember it was in the same markings it is in now but very polished!

When the B-24 does get some well deserved TLC, id like to see this 24 repainted. It's a nice scheme but since there are so few that fly i think its good to switch em up. 8) I'll submit my choice!

Fantastic pics! I never new she flew in formation with the Collings bird..I'd definately love to see those shots.

I'd like to see this 24 repainted. I'll submit my choice!

Never liked the sharkmouth on B-24s myself. I think she looks great in polished bare metal, but I wish she still carried the old "Delectable Doris" artwork. 8)

I gotta say that sometimes less is more as far as paint schemes go.

Not too bad

I like her current paint with the wear and weathering it looks like a time caspule.
Is she really that bad gents? The lower wing surface looks a bit fluffy behind and between the engines?

so whats the history of this B-24 anyways?

Wed Mar 26, 2008 10:43 pm

I think she looks great as-is. Of course, she'd look even better in the air... 8)

<DISCLAIMER> This post is in no way meant to incite yet another "static vs flying" flame war. I'm greatful when any historic aircraft is preserved, whether flying or not.
