Isn't that Bearcat with the folded wings the one that Howard Pardue used to own and fly?

Yeah, I see the NMUSAF collection all the time, so it was cool to see some stuff with tail hooks. We went to the NMNA three days in a row, along with doing the other side trips. It was great. Awesome place.

Thanks again. The Mauler is a beautiful plane but unbelievably complex. I wish I could get the group at the Az Wing of the CAF to try and make their Grumman Guardian a flyer but since I don't play there anymore I'm SOL with that. I've been to 'cola twice now and each time the docents there were extremely courteous and knowledgable. A great place to go not only for the planes but also the side exhibits. Very well thought out.

Chris, you sure got some good shots of some of my favorite things and
places. If you shot 1000 pics maybe you should consider putting them
on a Photobucket or Webshots page for all to see........

Here are yet some more. I love the Kingfisher, and on this trip I saw two of them. I now have seen all of the survivors that are on display in the U.S.!

Great pictures, Mustangdriver! Are any of the unrestored Lake Michigan birds still there at P-Cola? If so, can you post pics of them? What are the plans for the unrestored Lake birds? Any info is appreciated! :D

Yeah, there were a few there. THere was an SBD and an F4F in a display scene. And then there was an F6F and F4F in storage and restoration.

What do you know about the Hellcat? I wasn't aware that any Hellcat's had been recovered from Lake Michigan. I know a while back that there were many ( 4 to 6) SBD's in the storage area. Have all of those gone out to other museums or are they in storage somewhere? Thanks for the info!

The guide was saying that even though they still own the aircraft that they try to put them on loan to museums that want them. I didn't see any other SBD's besides the ones on display at the museum. I know that several aircraft carrier museums have recently recieved SBD's. I wonder if that might be them.
