Bill, I really feel for you. I am so glad that you and the other pilot are safe. I am sure you will be reliving the whole thing over and over again for quite a while of course, but the important thing is that no one was hurt. The aircraft can, and will be fixed, although that sounds a lot simpler and easier than it will end up being to be sure. I really do hope that you will be able to fly TE308 again. She seems to be such a part of you . . . I have always felt that she couldn't be sharing any better company. You must be able to tell from these threads that you have a lot of friends out here in the ether. We are all here to help. Take care of yourself, and keep in touch.

Good post, and sums up the feelings of all of us. Thank God nobody was hurt. Good luck, Bill, and here's to hoping we see your kite grace the skies once again very soon.

Damned right! I may be poor, but not so poor that I can't chip in a bit to get her up again! What about starting up a paypal site for this? Scott or Jack, you guys know how to get this done?

I also want to contribute to the repair of Bill's airplane.

Even though Bill and I have never met, nor spoken on the phone, I feel he is my friend. As members of WIX I feel as though we are all friends, and when a friend is down in the dumps and needing a hand, I would like to extend mine to help.

Like many others on here, I am not a rich man, just a man with rich dreams. That being said, Bill, if you post a mailing address I would be more than happy to send you a cheque/check for what I can.

Keep in touch Bill.

Cheers,

David M.

Hey Bill,

I had seen your post earlier this am and I waited to post later. EVERYONE has said what I was going to say. My time here at WIX has been great. You and your Spit has been a big part of that. I could not imagine WIX without you two. I am sure it will be a long road ahead but it can happen.

Set up the kitty and count me in. I would like to do what I can in honor of a distant relative SGT Oliver Houghton who was shot down Sept 6 1940 and to get you back in the air!

Bill,
I won't mince words. I know we are not talking about making a small repair, but I want to encourage you to do as much as you can to get the plane with yourself at the controls back into the air. I know from many falls in many hard things in my life that you need to get back onto your horse ASAP. If you can in the meantime, get down to FL and fly with Chuck Gardner, or find somebody somewhere with a tailwheel and get flying again. Don't sit around feeling sorry for yourself. Get up and GO!

Bill,

I wish you the best and hope you can rebuild. I also understand what may lie ahead. The labor cost could be high just to tear down and inspect the Merlin, not to mention any parts. Once the structure is opened up how many surprises will be found? Just look at the Mustang rebuild in PA and it was a flyer! It is an older rebuild.

Bill's concerns for the cost are well advised. On the flip side, many here and in other places on the net want to help financially. Bill's kindness (remember just before the accident offering a ride in the open seat) has been a factor that will come back to benifit him now. Give it some time to settle in.

Bill, think how much worse it could be.............. you could have owned a Corsair like mine!

Bill,

As everyone is aware, we do not see eye to eye in several issues.

That of course, is that, and this is this.

As I expressed to you, it is a relief to know that you are physically unharmed.

The same as everyone here, I can offer a little $$ support if and when the time comes for you to decide what you will do with the Spit.

Saludos,

Tulio

Bill,

How about a PayPal account? I'd rather try to get $10 from 1000 people than try to get $10,000 from one. 8) Let us know when and how.

Glad you are all safe and healthy and your sense of humor is still intact "Complete set of T-6 parts, no assembly required." (1/4 share of T-6 post)

Also, I too experienced a slow roll at less than 1500 feet...

Hi Bill,

As a long time lurker but very few posts, I would like to express that I, too, would like to donate to keep these planes in the air. Just say how and I will be there. I would love to donate time as well, but the distance involved probably will not allow that. :(

How about a raffle for a ride or a piece of the removed damage?

Bill,

We've never met but I feel like I have gotten to know you from reading your various posts. I echo the many thoughts from others on this board and would gladly help support the rebuild.

You can come fly my airplane anytime!

Mike
