Hit post to fast and forgot to add..
There is a move clip of this group after the war in a 9th AF VCR tape I have but can't find it.
It might have the answer so maybe someone else can help.

Hey Mark and Starduster, thanks for looking into this..

How can Kent Rust's book have Blue and Green? Are they different revisions? Which info is from the lastest printing?

I received a call from an engineer from the 362nd 378th that said he thought they were red. I am positive that is incorrect, that's the 377th ( too many period pics on the web for that).

The CO's plane you mention is currently the scheme on Wright -Pats P47-D sans the Checkerboard pattern.

As shown here on our very own WIX site.

So I have settled on Green, now notice the trim tab on the rudder? CO special or standard marking? I've decided the prob hub will be green as well. Now for that last character after the G8*...

Thanks again you guys!

22 seconds into the video. that looks like G8 to me.

Looks like green to me, comments? The Film isn't in the best condition but the color seems to be the same as the landscape.

I was going to say BLUE but after reading what you said I would have to agree that it matches the landscape.
Looks like silver prop spinner too!

Found this on some flight simulator website:

This may be an earlier scheme but the G8 jumped out at me.

I have built a model of "Sleepy Time Gal".
That was the film clip I was thinking of.
I agee with Mark in that I thought it was Blue until I rewind it back couple of times and not sure.
I would go with blue in that 9th AF groups that did use colors for squadron's ,for the most part, used red, yellow and blue.
Maybe some one else will come up with a better clip.

This Website shows Green. Even though it is missing the black stripe on the tail.

Thanks for the input!!!

That Youtube video you posted it looked like each horizontal stabilizer had a black stripe as well. You can see it when they make their break.
