I can clean up the crap from the 262 thread and unlock it if you all would like?

But it seemed that between that thread and one other that there were some folks that were having a hard time playing nice and started to insult others.

I can't speak for what other Mod's do and I won't.

I think that's the problem. You guys should be working off the same page instead everybody doing something different everytime. One guy says "cool down guys", another locks the thread, another deleteded it and another goes through and moves all the threads around to were he thinks is the proper forum for it and no one uses the advisory members forum which is what all that's for! When it happens no one says a word so has a result people are left wondering what happened and go searching for something that doesn't exist anymore or has been moved and that tends to irritate the masses. That P-51 thread is a perfect example. There was a lot of childist whinning to some straight up questions but nothing more. The anorak thread was just plain funny with a little scrapping but no big deal. Eric's comments were classic. The 262 thread is locked because someone compared Seattle and coffee??? A better saying would be that Seattle has the highest per capita ratio of unemployed coffee workers now that Starbucks is going down the tubes.
Rant over at least temporarly :?

Ok here's my take as the new guy moderator.

I have moved threads because it seemed at the time that was the thing to do. (the photography section was set up to make the "main page" ie, WIX Hanger a bit less cluttered. Being creatures of habit the new photo section was not being utilized and the thought was that if we (Scott and gang) moved some of the photo only threads the new section might take off)

I have locked threads ( Sometimes a thread is headed in the wrong direction (Hijacked) and is locked simply because there is good stuff in there that should be heard.)

I have removed threads...(these I usually consult with Scott via PM before it's moved)
The bashing and gnashing of teeth that happens gets downright childish and hateful.
We, as moderators, are trusted by Scott to make judgment calls on certain things that are posted in here...sometimes it get so ugly that it deems being moved off the board..other times a bit of a "Hey we're all on the same team" nudge is needed.
Not everyone agrees on our judgments...that's normal.

If everyone would just think a bit before they fly off the handle maybe things would run more smoothly...I have been guilty of the occasion snide remark...heck this is the internet...why not.

For Jack...I have posted a few times in the advisory section with very little results...have you seen the answer I posted in there for you?
Maybe I will keep a log of my actions in there...

I love me some WIX...it's a great place with great insight..and...it feeds my aeroplane addiction...much to the chagrin of the management at home.

I have been a moderator on a gun board, with 11,000 registered, for several years...and this crowd on WIX is a piece of cake compared to that!

If you want to know anything from me...please send me a note...I'll answer it.

Hi Zane,
I looked for 4-5 days for an answer to my question on the advisory forum but gave up looking up after that. I wish there was a notifier on that since most members aren't apt to check it regularly. I do think it should be used more since that's it's intended purpose.
Like I said you guys need to come together and use the same OPFORPLN
rather than everybody doing something different. That makes the inmates start chanting and tapping their tin cups on the bars of their cells.
Also if you're going to delate or block or move a thread the huddled masses need to know about it. I've notice it tends to rile folks up a bit and there's nothing worse than looking for a thread that doesn't exist.
BTW no thanks and the wine and grapes but I'll take the cheese if it's from Wisconsin 8)

Hi Jack,

Actually most of the delays and whatnot are my fault and not the fault of any of the mods. I have not been able to devote as much time as I would like to keeping the peace around here, and so when things get unruly the the thread tends to get locked or moved to storage. I will try and spend more time dealing with these issues in the future and making my actions more transparent. Thanks.
