The Luftwaffe had a few nose-wheel types. Along with the Do 335, there was the HE219 and the ME323 giant freighter. The 335 didn't make it into production and the HE219 wasn't available in large enough numbers to make an impact.
The nosewheel on the 335 looks like it retracts to a point behind the front engine, which solves that problem.
I have seen pics of the A26 Invader on take-off with the nosewheel rotating through 90 degrees. Did this also happen with other US bombers?
