This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Glad to hear it's as low damage as an emergency can be.
Good to hear the pilot's OK, too.
Lovely, rare a/c.
Looks like an emergency landing on grass? Hope the damage is minimal and doesn't cost too much. No physical pain I hope, but there's going to be wallet damage. Too bad.
I sincerely hope things can be fixed.

Great shame - beautiful aircraft.
JDK - looks like it's on the hard surface to me, not grass (grass has more risks - particularly of digging in and turning over - for this sort of landing).

Great photos of a very unfortunate incident! Glad it wasn't worse.
In better days...

Excellent photo work.
Let's look on the bright side... if you HAVE to have a forced landing, you could not hope to do better than this. Looks like we'll have a pretty good case of rash underneath, but this should be very repairable.
Great work on the pilot's part, a textbook gear-up landing, and I look forward to seeing updates on getting the Fury repaired in the near future.

C'mon! That landing was worth more than eight claps!

Glad someone got video. Love the announcer's calm during the event, it definitely helps the situation.

Rob Rieder was the announcer.
That clip's audio shows why he's one of the best in the business. His commentary almost made it a non-event for the crowd, almost as though it was part of the show.
Great guy too!

Hey guys,
I am the one who was able to get that video and I appreciate the comments on it. To answer why there were so few people applauding, well, there were only like four people around me at the time... two were shooting away with their cameras, one (I think) was also taking pictures, and of course, the other guy saying he landed on his belly. He was probably the only one applauding.
The outcome of the events at hand were definitely the best that could have occurred. I was also told that the aircraft could very well fly again soon, as damage was somewhat minimal!

Good to hear that Steven. I really would like to see the Fury at Oshkosh if I am able to get there next year (or somewhere closer to Northern Virginia if possible).

It seems as if he did not know that his gear was not down? Was it a planned belly landing?
