Thanks Holedigger and cozmo. You caused me to do some "in depth" research.
Since there were only 4 (5) subs at Pearl that day, my brothers and I (or maybe just me) have been living all these years believing my father (and his sub) were there on Dec. 7.
After a bit of research (which should have been done long ago) I find that the USS Pollack (SS180) was on her way from Mare Island
to Pearl at the time of the attack and didn't reach Pearl until Dec. 9.
I now have no one to ask about the time line of my father's WWII record as no one who might know is still living. I'll have to ask my little brother if he knows anything. Problem is, I was only 6-10 during the war and he was 4-8.
Our memories could be influenced by what we
wanted to happen instead of what actually occurred.
Oh well...the research will give me something to do.

ps. I took my parents to Hawaii in '69. First time my father had been there since the Arizona Memorial was dedicated. He couldn't bring himself to go out to the Memorial. First time I ever saw tears in his eyes.
