I am looking forward to our next little airshow in Columbus, Georgia, I hope to see a whole lotta make believe bombs, rockets and machine gun ammunition being sported in whatever happens to be slated to come here. Gaud, I hate it when our society has become so frickin" sensitive....frickin' whinners

We took the B-25 to Sea Fair a couple years ago a based it out of Galvin at Boeing Field. We had our inspection by 3 FAA guys of which 2 were a bit older and cool but the younger guy was a Nazi :? He saw the fake guns mounted on the bomber and went nuts. He wanted all all ATFF paperwork and serials of these weapons. His head was so locked you couldn't a word in. He ranted and raved so much the 2 others looked embarassed. Finally Bert our co told him if he called ATFF he'd look like pretty stupid and then showed him our pvc pipe barrelled fuselage guns.
I guess ol Kittyhawk Aviation makes a pretty good replica

I've seen some of those types in action recently. It's NO fun to have a ramp check happen right when you are fueling a friend's aircraft.

When I was bringing the DC-3 home to Az, we were in Austin, TX, and got the attention of the TSA and Austin PD because we were talking about DC-3, they thought it was a type of explosive.

We had a FAA guy come to the hanger to do a airworthiness inspection on a AT-6.
There were 2 helos, a C-172, a Lancair IVP, a Half Track and the T-6 in there. He looks around and says "which one's the AT-6?" :? :!:

All he did was look at the logs and verified the matching prop and 1340 were installed and signed it off.
I suppose he could have checked to see if it was the right a/c serial
Because the s/n we used was for a Douglas A-20 Havoc :!:  :P  :!: :!:

Good thing you weren't flying a C-4, they would have wanted to detonate in place to secure the airfield!

For some reason they felt they needed to protect us from owning dummy bombs or grenades. Their excuse was that gang members get ahold of them and make real ones out of them.
That is pretty cool though.

Les
I live in California and I've never herd of this law, and I see warbirds out here all the time with dummy bombs and rockets on them.

I don't know about the bombs and stuff, but I was harassed a couple of years back for taking pictures downtown in LA. There is this sort of monorail thing going up a hill near the old part of town, and I was shooting it from the street (it was sectioned off and out of order.) Mind you, I'm standing there in shorts, flip flops, and a Scooby-Doo tshirt taking pictures on a city street of this tram thingie (It's pretty old) when some rent a cop showed up and told me to give him my camera. I made the mistake of laughing at him and he got pretty upset at me, even threatened to arrest me, which made me laugh more. I think the phrase out of your gd mind was used at one point. I can't help it. I'm anti establishment.

I finally told him to pound sand (not quite in those words) and he got on his little radio and called himself some backup. Two LAPD showed up after a little while and looked at me in my "terrorist suit" and they didn't even say anything. They walked up, got in front of me where they knew I could see them looking (I was still shooting) and then they just turned around and walked away. I wasn't sure what that meant but I figured they were either going for the SWAT team or I was okay so I finished my shoot and smiled at the rent a cop and met my wife and we went to dinner.

It seems like the more power mad a person is, and the less power he usually has. And the less power he has, the more an Ahole he generally acts.

Angels Flight, definitely a terrorist plot awaiting to happen, definitely a historic landmark from 1901 that a terrorist needs to hit, atleast to make it operate perfectly! again. They probrably blamed you for not allowing it to work properly since 1969! You know that the flip-flops must have given you away as a desert dweller!!!!!
