A couple years ago, Blackberrys became all the rage for USAF leadership.

Seems like overnight, Squadron Commanders and up were toting these things around, always on their e-mail lifeline to everything that military commanders have to keep on top of.

So, one day I'm sitting in my office and I needed to ask my Commander a question. I walked to his office, where his secretary mentioned that he was flying.

I went back to my computer and wrote him a short email with my question, assuming he'd get back to me in his own sweet time after he got done with his debrief and checked his mail.

As I went about my business, no less than a minute or two later, the computer went <ding!>, indicating I had a new email.

Sure enough...it was from my Commander....from his Blackberry....from somewhere overhead the field in the back seat of a T-38!!

now that guy is sick.... all i ever wanted to do was get OUT of the squadron and on the flight sched so nobody would bother me for a couple hours.. and if i played it right i could turn it into half a day with briefs and de-briefs...

and no i don't text AT ALL... but a friend of mine did call while i was making a low approach at my strip (350 mph) so i was a little fast)) so i flipped it open for about 15 secs so he could here a RR screaming. It was too bad as he thought i was in the shop and didn't know it was a RR till i told him later..

take care
