Warbird Information Exchange

Pretty much they were fighting for thier lives against the Russians, so they pretty much took help from where ever they could get it. Which is why thier aviation museums have such a weird collection of aircraft.

The German swastika and Finnish hakaristi were not reversed...but the
swastika was set on edge.

The Finns were the only Axis loser not occupied post-WW2, due to
the nature of the 3 Wars they fought in the same period. Kinda like the
runt kid who wouldn't quit..no matter who they fought! Everyone probably
felt the Finns had "earned the right" to be left alone.

That's the one!! The closeup I have is of the other side which didn't have the nose art. I notice in your photo there's no serial on the tail - was it censored off your print? Thanks for clearing this up for me. See - who says porrnn can't be educational?

#411 was not originally #403 s/n 44-23274. They are 2 different airplanes. #403 was lost when the canopy departed in flight and hit pilot Bill French on the head. The airplane disinigrated on the way down and spit him out. He came to at the last second and got half a swing on his parachute before he hit the ground. #402 was "Magnolia Mauler" and I have a nice shot of "Lady Louise". Let me see what you all have!!!

Jack....I didn't mean 403 became 411..I meant 403 was, then 1st Lt.
Coleman's, previous mount. Did I assume correctly when viewing a photo
of 403 "Hawkeye Hattie I" captioned with Coleman's name?

Lady Louise is very HOT nose art!! Woo..Woo!! Do post her!!!
I've seen cowl-art on the Port engine of a P-38, of a vamp holding a
cocktail riding a tiger. The point is..they both appear to have been
the work of the same artist.
The 44th seemed to have more than their "fair share" of quality artists!!
