Remember that most of that footage was guys learning to land the airplane. That's part of the interview process to get hired.

I'll bet some of your first landings in an aircraft type weren't pretty, either.

I guess I should have explained what they meant by 'interview.'
I felt a bit like this when I transitioned to my 195 (obviously no comparison besides being a taildragger with a bit of a reputation.) I had lots of TW time in things considered tricky, like a Pitts, but I was humbled. I had a few interesting landings and actually wound up looking at the departure approach end of the runway on one landing. Nothing touched by the way. I remember walking away after parking it and turning around to take a look at my new plane, thinking, "how can something SO beautiful be such a B*TCH!"
So I really cracked up when I heard the lyric "she ******* hates me!"

(sarcasm ON) You're right. Too bad they had such a terrible showing putting jet jocks in the Skyraider in Vietnam. Everyone just thought Bernie Fisher was dodging spent rocket pods and 55gal drums when he landed to pick up Jump Myers - he was probably just hanging on, trying not to groundloop. AF pilots are so over-rated. (sarcasm OFF) 8)

I became acquainted with a U-2 pilot last week while I was fueling my Stearman. He taxied up in a Stinson and started chatting because he was thinking of bringing his Stearman over to California from the East coast.

Apparently a large percentage of U-2 pilots are also GA pilots with tailwheel aircraft.

And, don't forget there is no differential braking with only a nosewheel.

The AF also really likes pilot's with glider experience.

I good friend of mine qualified and flew the U-2 for several years. He was also a competition sailplane pilot in the Open class while in the airforce.
