If you mean actually having 10 B-17s there (8 in 2005 + 2), I don't think hardly anyone would argue with that, but not sure how realistic that is.

After thinking about the Navy thing in 2011, I think it would be better next year since everyone will be doing Navy in 2011.

2010: Navy
-Corsair Demo
-Any Pacific Reenactors out there?
-Perhaps a simulated Naval attack somehow... dive bombers and torpedo bombers at different levels.

2011: Korea
-Since most likely the Blues will be back, the bigger crowds will help with the cost of more jet fuel.

Oh, yeah... F-4 demo in each :D

I thought Kevin announced the theme for 2010 at the aircrew dinner on the Saturday night. (I won't say what in case the airshow folks don't want it widely known)

I'd love to see 10 Forts in the air at once, and better yet, if all the crews could get formation qualified. :D I know, I know, it won't happen.

How about a Battle of Britain theme? (70th Anniversary)

Or a trainer theme? (I'm biased on that one, though!)

I wouldn't mind a Trainer theme as long as it included my favorite Trainers: T-33 (at least 3 or 4), TA-4J, T-2's, T-28's (lots).......and maybe even the F-100F and TF-104G......

Drop the military demo teams. I fear that YAM is becoming too dependent on the Blues and other modern military stuff. I feel the show needs to get back into the warbird rhythm/grass roots so to speak. Isn't this show suppose to be one of the largest and best annual warbird gatherings?

If 2011 is for the hundreth of the Navy why no '10 for the Army? Wright Flyer replica for the one Benny Foulis flew at Ft. Sam.

I'll be there no matter what....kinda nice living 10 miles away :D

No military jet act for 2010. Every other year / every third year is fine by me....but I know the $$$$ they bring in is hard to overlook.

One criticism of this year's show was the amount of dead time between acts. In my opinion, you need something in front of the crowd while the previous act is recovering or the next is launching / positioning. The re-enactors are ok, but for those of us that were more than 50 feet behind the fence, anything on the ground is mostly invisible. The close air support was good though!!!! John Mohr and his Stearman would be perfect (in my opinion). A couple of acts to fill in / occupy the crowd while the larger acts are maneuvering would be welcome.

It would be nice to see a large gathering of float planes along with the Navy theme...PBY's, Albatros, Goose, Widgeon, Mallard, Duck, etc.

Personally, I'd like to see Will Ward's Mig-21 in the air (I know, out of your control). Maybe doing fly-by's with an F-100?????
A B-1 fly-by would be welcome as well.

Also, it would be nice to see a mini theme within a show that would include the lighter birds: Lysander, Storch, Helio Courier, Korean and Viet Nam L-birds. Randy Maiville is not far away and has an excellent example of an O-1. Could also include WWII cilvilian birds that were appropriated for military / CAP use, Ryan, Howard, Waco, Staggerwing, Spartan, Fairchild, etc if they are in proper markings.

Actually the Centennial for the Air Force and its Army predecessors was back in 2007:

http://www.afhra.af.mil/factsheets/fact ... p?id=10944

That was the year the Air Force celebrated the 60th Anniversary as a separate service. The 100th Anniversary aspect was largely ignored.

Scramble! Angels 12 bearing 240!

70th Anniversay of the Battle is next year. Might be cool to see how many Spits/Hurri's and ME-109's you could get.

I don't really think they are becoming dependent on the Blues, and even if they were, that really wouldn't be a bad thing. Keep in mind they are trying to raise money to build a museum. So while they are running an AWESOME air show, they also have to run it like a business. The Blues help them get things like the large gatherings, F-4 Demos, the warbirds from farther distances with higher fuel costs, and the ability to rebuild their museum.

As far as the single ship demos, I think they are great as well. Especially in the "off Blue" years. I like the Heritage Flights, but do wish we added some other aircraft like P-47s or P-38s... but I bet those guys wouldn't fly as low as Vlado! Nothing against the P-51 Heritage Flights, it is just that most of the flights I have seen are F-16/P-51... mix it up :D

While I watched the Blues (I think the Thunderbirds are better) they also provided many photographers in the pit to leave before the huge crowds.

Something else for next year... repeat customer priority registration for the photo pit!!! :D

(Yes, I said it twice)

Obviously I would love to see the Horsemen (you already know that Michael) and an F-22 demo, I would also love to see a BUNCH of heritage flights:

USAF - Fighters
P-51, F-86, F-4, F-22

USAF - Bombers
B-17, B-52, B-1, B-2

...oh, I forgot... USAF - Attack
P-47, Skyraider, A-10

USAF - Transport
C-47, C-123, C-130, C-17

USAF - Trainers
T-6, T-37, Super Texan

USN - Fighters
Hellcat, Corsair, TA-4, F/A-18

USN - Trainers
N3N or Stearman, SNJ, T-2, Super Harvard

US Army - Rotor
OH-47, UH-1, UH-60, AH-64, Chinook

US Army - Fixed Wing
OV-10, Caribou

A jet team, I think even though some may not like it, bring the crowds and the $$$ to YAM. Maybe Jive and Snort's new jet team... then they will both be there to do their own individual demo's as will...

Mark P.

I'm not sure if anyone has really done the theme before but I think it could be great. Seems like something for everyone.

Please return the show to August if you can.

Tim

I second on both points, Korea and returning the show to August.

I would really like to see an A-26 ripping it up.

How about a WIX theme? All WIXers who own flyable airplanes could bring them, and those who don't own airplanes can help haul the WIXer's airplanes that don't fly there. :-)

I think a post-WWII theme with an emphasis on the Korean War would be awesome. This would easily satisfy radial and jet engine fans.

And the rest of us can sit at home and bitch about the ones that go and how wrong there paint, markings, rivets, etc. are!
