It looks a bit like the 75gal teardrops used by F-51's postwar. Maybe like the ones FF-704 occasionally sports?

We are still looking for a drop tank that will fit the P-39. The big problem with most not fitting is it has to clear the nosewheel.

I'm going to take it to work sometime in the next week or two & assess if it can be used for an airworthy plane. The owner right now is talking $1000 for it, as is.. :shock:
The others I've seen were all welded together, this one is two halves bolted together... :?

I have a few P-38 drop tanks but they are in pretty poor condition. I failry certain that Carl Scholl had several of them in better condition so you may check with him.
