This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

One could also argue that he isn't selling duplicate parts, but improved parts.
Even the Roush piston rings have PMA #'s on them...

Serious question for all of you. Now, don't take this as a slight against Roush, as I know his reputation is superb and he has the best engines in the biz. Has anybody ever done any kind of statistical analysis or a database survey of exactly how many or what percentage of Roush over-hauled engines have had catastrophic engine failures in them after Roush's overhaul? I know Rouch engines are the best, how
how much better are they? Are there any statistics to prove this or is it just born out by anecdotal evidence? What about TBO times on the Roushs? How are they compared to non-Roush engines? I'm interested to know if anybody has done any serious study of this.
Lotsa questions!

I'm guessing that the Roush motors haven't been out there long enough to have a meaningful statistical data point. A good friend and highly experienced warbird pilot who has toured the facility commented on how detailed and well-run the place seemed to be. He also commented on the Roush team's work on improving parts, experimenting with different spark plugs (that Jack would fly himself), etc. Time will tell, but they appear to be doing a first rate job.
And, from the thread title, I was expecting to see a T-38 .....

My brother-in-law, a Master Ford Mechanic, got to tour the Roush facility a couple years ago and came away very impressed with that shop. They seem to be doing a lot of cutting edge stuff with that 70 year old technology.

I'd be more intersted in who built the engine the first time using old parts...
