I have taken on painting jobs, and been given paint that is 10+ years old.
The paint has gone bad, but the shop didn't include an extra $500 in their quote for new paint.
Sometimes you just have to tell the cheap buggers to leave the shop & take their crap with them. At some point the paint becomes "shed paint" & asking the owner why he wants to use paint thats only fit for painting sheds on his pride & joy can get the msg across

The answer to "can I paint my pride & joy for $X" is usually "Yes.... in Tijuana"
