I thought that the wings were done in NZ by Pioneer Aero. The aeroplane monthly article mentioned where the fuselage had been done... not Fighter Rebuilders, but I don't have the mag. to hand and can't remember exactly who it was. I seem to remember it was in California though. I think Steve Hinton's involvement was in flight testing, and then disassembling/shipping the airframe to Duxford, where he and his crew would be involved in assembly and further testing. He has a long standing relationship with Stephen Grey and TFC, so it seems logical that TFC would get him to do that end of the job at the very least.

Anyone know different?

Cheers,
Richard

It's certainly no secret, as the details have been published in numerous magazines.

Matt Nightingale was the project director, and restored the fuselage and tail group. He also co-ordinated the final assembly, after the wings were restored by Pioneer Aero in NZ and the engine by Ray Anderson in Idaho.

Steve Hinton did the post-restoration test flying.

Cheers,

Brett
