I think you're onto something there... it's the closest bet by far up until now. I can't think of many on there which I don't recognize as sports teams, but there's bound to be some rinky-dink college teams with some of the more obscure names. Great guess!

Good Show Norm. Here is what Dick Phillips sent to me.
Good tries guys. As I told John Kerr, you had to think outside the box on this one.
First off, I appologize for the C-17 reference, it should have read, C5A. Got my "big box planes mixed up."

The thing they have in common is that all those names are also team names for major and minor league baseball teams, major football and basketball teams, hockey and soccer teams and a whole bunch of large and small college teams. I got the idea as I was watching the Australian Open Tennis on ESPN and kept seeing the sports scores running across the bottom of the picture, thinking, "Boy, there are sure a lot of aircraft names there." I'm sure I missed dozens more, but you have the idea of what I was after.

This, then, is a 'Dick Phillips'....circa Duxford airfield 2000....got an even better one of him at the Corsair Gathering in Indy 2003 but I won't embarass him with that one...LOL.
