Hi Rick,
Still looking for a tank to make into a baggage pod. I could put the starter probe in there as well if it's a big enough tank. I'm looking into converting to electric start using the prints from an FJ-4 Fury as it's the same engine except for the starting system. It's in our plans during next years winter maint. We want to get some time on it and our pilots trained before we dive in to that conversion.
I think T-33 Paul will let you in the backseat Xavier?

Yep, there may be some extra 300 gal tanks at Muszala Aviation in Marana.

I need to talk with you about the electric start conversion, I spoke with Rich S. at ICAS about it but have not seen the schematics.

Ask Paul to give me a call about scheduling the training, we may have an opportunity in May. we are looking at possibly moving the TA first part of May to accommodate some training already scheduled.

Hi Rick,
Do you have a contact number for the guys at Muszala Aviation? I'd be interested in what they may have. I'll see if I have the file I received from Rich S with the wiring print. If not, I'll get it again and forward to you.
I'll let Paul know to get in touch with you. That timing may work out just right.

Now you have me interested - what do you guys do for a probe Rick? I assume this "probe" is a type of fitting that goes on the end of the huffer tube but I was unaware of it before.

Tom, only the J65 powered aircraft use a probe. The TA-4 is J-52 powered and uses a standard air coupler on the end of the hose.

wow - that set up was used on board?! It seems like an incredibly unwieldy piece of equipment - compared to the coupler I am used to on the F-16, F-104 or E-2C. Now I see the need for the centerline drop tank/storage compartment!

Thanks for the info!

I think my fee was to stop the endless 'flowofacts'TM for fifteen minutes. (It had been a long week for the poor pilot.)

But then I don't take cool pics!

James,

I'm an airplane geek at heart so the endless flowofacts was always welcomed!

Xavier,

It's up to the WHF folks who their photo "trigger man" is. I'm just drivin'.
