Glanced over the photos and realized the T-41 N4992R used to be in the fleet at the Maxwell AFB Aero Club. The Club sold its C-152s in the mid-90's when T-41s became available as surplus from Hondo, TX (agency transfer I suppose it's called). The airplanes flew in their stock T-41 white USAF schemes until they received civilian paint jobs in the later 90's. The Club closed quite some time ago - (maybe 2003?) and I wondered what became of those birds.

As an aside, the Club obtained one of the T-41 cockpit mock-up procedures trainers from the school at Hondo. We waited until a C-130 was on a cross-country to San Antonio and had it shipped back, where it was put to good use with student pilots. Wonder if it still sits in the old Club hangar?

It seems that the Kenosha Museum is now the Russell Military Museum and is actually in Illinois. Guess that is why the name change? Or was it always just over the line? Lots of hardware in the yard out back...in the snow!

Check out their website www.russellmilitarymuseum.com

Chris,

If you mean by gray cube the amphib it looks like an LVTP5A1. I believe the USS Alabama has a similar one.

We had one of those things parked just inside the perimeter fence, when I was stationed at Naval Amphibious Base Littlecreek (it's still there). I beleive it's by the reserve center. Clearly visible from the civilian side.

I remember seeing that museum when I was up at Great Lakes for initial training. Never visited. I just drove up there that area, again didn't stop (was on business), and north of the museum location of the west side of I-94 was large dealership of some kind. In the lot was a DC-6 Cockpit (iirc). Anyone know anything about it?
