The pratt & Whitney 1340 in my t-6 has a 2000 Lincoln head penny from the last time it was overhauled by covington aircraft, Its a very interesting read and sheds light on several other reasons for the penny.

The tradition isn't limited to Lincoln Head Pennies. I snapped this pic of a Harvard last year at Thunder..

BTW..........there is a way to get the porcelin ones off without cracking them.
