Hey there Ollie,

I think we've been in the same palce a numbe of times, but haven't actually met. We'll have to track each other down next event we get the chance.

I was admiring your FW down at Geneseo though.

Anyways, I'm sure we'll cross paths one of these days and I'm glad you appreciated the three-winged wake up call.

At least I didn't use the louder version with the big Pratt 1340 up front!

Hi Steve, Hi Edward. First of all, Edward, I never cease to get swell-headed when someone throws compliments at that Harvard book. There were times during the 7 years of research that I wondered if it would ever be finished!

Mr. Tournay, it's good to talk to you after all these years! It's been 12 years since you did that MiG painting. How time does fly! By the way, if you think there's any way on earth I'm going to take up your comment on the quality of the painting, you can forget it. I am mellowing as I get older and I really don't cause much trouble anymore (wanna buy a bridge? Eiffel Tower?) :lol:

You know, when I first saw your name on this forum, I immediately thought of those 'Airicatures' you did of all tne NA-16 family aircraft. They're still classics and I think I'll dig them out and post them here.

Hi Doug!

Funny, it's Eighties Week here, it seems. Just came back from a SCUM meeting (SCUM=Steel City United Modelers) this evening out at Eric Grove's...featuring the usual half dozen guys, plus Bob Grubb, whom I have probably not seen in nearly a decade. He's back at the styrene game after very major surgery...we were delighted to see him again, since at one point we thought we wouldn't, ever. Most cool to renew two acquaintances in quick succession like that...

The Airicatures. My oh my. That was the first attempt I made at making a buck from airplane-related artwork. (A buck is pretty close to what I ultimately did net from those! :roll: ) The NA-16 series ones, though, were all one-offs...you've got the only examples. Would be most cool to see them posted here. (Except for the Mk.4 that snuck into "Harvard!" I haven't seen any of them since drawing them. I do though still have all the kits you swapped for them. My basement still looks like a hobby shop, except now it actually is my basement--I flew the nest in 1995 and now live just west of downtown.)

Other memory-lane stuff? Me "punking" you about '50s Airfix Harvard Is at Salvages Variety...you blowing out the back window of your Chev by miscalculating the length of a weight bench...and us going up to the Hope in the dead of winter to see what the airliner fuselage on the firepit was, only to find that it was a fake...but that the Mosquito parked in Hgr#3 that day was genuine! :shock: And, of course, The Duck Wars. Happy times!

Doug, congratulations for your work on the Harvard! book, me and my Dad have a look at it from time to time, it's such a wealth of infos.

Hopefully, when we start the work on our next Harvard, the book will be very useful!

Goldilocks Harvards:

According to the book:

"The "Goldilocks" did not have any specific aircraft allotted for their use year round but would usually practice after a working day, much like the "Easy Aces" of a decade earlier, using whatever aircraft were available. When the airshow season grew nearer, the pilots settled on individual favourites which then got "the full treatment."

To add to the 'zombie thread'.... :lol:

The famous 1964 season with the numbered aircraft used the following Harvards:

1 - 20421
2 - 20403
3 - 20420
4 - 20459
5 - 20442
6 - 20413
7 - 20372

20413 has been restored as she appeared in the 1964 season as Goldilocks #6 and even has the registration CF-SIX.
She is owned by Tim Siimes and is flown out of Windsor, Ontario.
I was lucky enough to get to shoot some air-to-air of her in late 2012:
