If you'd like me to check out anything in particular about this plane, i will be in Louisville until the 27th. I have access to the outside of the plane only.

Looks pretty...er...original. No modded nose, etc. Sad to see her in such a state. Too bad there aren't more of these old guys in the air considering all the work they did early on in the war in various guises (B-34/37, Hudson, C-60 etc., etc.).

Great Photos man, Great photos. Question.....is the Grimes lighting under the cockpit window standard to all Lodestar aircraft. It would illuminate the leading edge and powerplant quite nicely. Would love to have this beast in my front yard. :drinkers:

Thanks Gary! As to the wing LE lighting i have no clue. I am more into commercial aviation and don't know much about these old beauties.

Thanks for posting the photos. I'm surprised no one has snapped this up at least for static display. The legalities behind the abandonment may be what stops them.

You're welcome. According to someone at Aircenter1 at Bowman field, there have been attempts to move it but the authorities never responded, so it's just sitting there.. Sad :(

Well,
Somebody at sometime had something to do with it after it's last flight because there are control locks on it and the engine QEC's and propellers are removed. The big dollar items.

From what i heard, the owner of the airport took matters into own hands after the authorities wouldn't pay "rent" for parking the plane over there.

FWIW:

"Art Persky dba Persky A/S 2 Sept 73 & Central American A/W & F/S 2 Sept 73"

Central American Airlines was based at Bowman Field. I visited Bowman Field in 2003, and talked to a guy who had flown
with this company to Nicaragua, during the 1960s.

Saludos,

Tulio

What does what mean? We don't know what you're asking about unless you quote or reference it.
