You pretty much have it in one Bill.

Not difficult to fly at all, difficult to fly well however which is why it served so well for so long as an ab initio trainer. If flown correctly its fantastic but flown incorrectly and it can bite the unwary.

Cold is par for the course with the Tiger as you mention Bill, the cockpit doesnt seem to block out the wind etc to the same degree as the likes of the Stearman.

A story I heard (dont know how true it was) is that 3 point was order of the day and wheel landings werent taught at all until well into advanced training when they had in excess of 100hrs.

If you're ever down this way Bill, perhaps for a ski holiday in Queenstown, come and say Hi and we'll go do some Tiger flying.

You better not invite me unless you are serious, because I may well just come. My Son was just last night talking about visiting down there. When is the best weather?
One BIG question, do you have snakes there, are is that only the Aussies? I really, really hate snakes, and I think I read that they have 5 or 6 of the most deadly ones in the world there. I hate all snakes, venomous, harmless, live, dead, large, small, tiny, stuffed, all of them.
My skiing is not what it once was, even though it never was anything more than fair. So, if I come I'd better rely on my flying. Any 2 seat Spits or 51s there?
Thanks, Bill

No snakes here, only the political kind.

Any time mid summer or winter is good, stay away from the equinox periods as it can be really changeable, still nice though.

A friend has a two seat 51 not far away and there is a two seat Spitfire and another 51 at the top of the country, few P-40's as well.
