Googled around a bit earlier and we do have a Skycrane running around here, as well as Kaman K-Max, Huey etc.

Whooopeee! RAIN!!! One of the heaviest concentrations so far is over Grimes County...2inches +! The firefighters say, not enough to put it out, but enough to help them get ahead of the fire.

The only ones in existence, tankers that is.

Airspray and Conair use L-188 Electras in Canada.

Yes we did get quite a bit of rain early this am. up to noon-ish. Judging from my overflowing dog food bowl, I'd say a bit over an inch. Skies were clear here last night but it started raining here about four.
The good thing is that at least four major fires were directly in the path of this rain system. GOD answers prayer is all I can say. And working in agriculture, make that a double thank you.

I'll be off line for a few days....going to Ohio for some open cockpit time where its green and cool.
blue skies...

Overcast and rising humidity are happy things! Maybe this is what's needed to get a grip on your fires-good luck, and I'd love to send you a big box of my overcast and 62f weather.

One of the fire outbreaks has been tagged as the "Bearing Fire", because it was purportedly started by a trailer with a fried wheel bearing setting the ultra dry grass afire when it pulled off on the road shoulder. A little maintenance goes a long way... :?

Some rain is forecast to begin tomorrow, with the heaviest chance for Wednesday afternoon..Tho bad juju may happen if the hurricane building on the west coast of Mexico sucks away all our moisture feeding in to a big low cell up in the Midwest, fingers crossed...we are SOOOOO dry since October. :(

They figured out what started the Nelson City fires. A brainiac in his red neck pick up going down the Interstate with his BBQ cooker still burning at 80 MPH. Wonder he didn't burn the whole County down. He did get a good start on it!
