Today, they'd call the bomb squad, close the school and turn you over for counseling for possessing a WMD.
You'd probably just be getting out detention now... :D

One of the worst things I ever did (can't believe I was so thoughtless) was to pull the pin and toss a Mills bomb grenade to my deputy manager. He wouldn't have known the colour band and drilled holes marked it as a training round, but I guess that he noted the fact I'd not left at high speed meant I wasn't passing him a live one. Still, he was of an age and alcohol intake that made a heart attack a real possibility!

Funny article, btw.

In high school I did a report on Apollo 13. Some of the material I got was from Scott Royce who was an engineer for NASA during Apollo. I had blue prints and things that showed the LM and CM and I was really excited about it. I got a B+ because the teacher didn't know what I was talking about when describing "Stirring the tanks".
This is the same teacher that gave a good grade to a kid that made a diorama of the underground railroad...complete in HO scale. Yeah. Desiel SantaFe engine and all.

Yes, I did....but part of it pretty well described the way our children are taught history these days if they even get any history at all. War is not PC nor sensitive.

Karen, I'm going to buy you a drink some day!

In an unrelated/related story, I had an 8th grade typing teacher who decided to give me a "D". I had a BROKEN HAND for Christ's sake.

So I know what you're talking about.

All of my kids did reports on WW2 history. All got good grades. It was still on us parent types to help them too. I was a history major in college. My interest in history came from my Grandfather who didn't finish 8th grade.

Teachers can help, but if the family doesn't care about it, why would the kid?

Funny article, btw.

After my brothers house burned the fire marshall evacuated the block and called in the bomb squad for a grenade he found in the remains of the house. The firemen were laughing at him because everyone could clearly see the hole in the bottom that showed it to be a hollow dummy. My other brother called him a individual of questionable judgement to his face. :D

LMAO...Today, the Feds would be in your house grilling your parents, the neighbors, and mind melding with the dog to see if you were a threat to the Big House on Penn Avenue :supz:
