Mark is correct and dont we wish it true. There is one however one essential point being missed here.

You go to the nearest village(s) especially when you have a map and for ten bucks they will take you to every wreck around. Its that simple.

Spending $35,000 seems a bit far fetched and even some of the pros who work the area like the great Brian Bennett find the story a bit implausible.

Has anyone seen the map?

Jungle Bob is correct,

if the area is in anyway populated with local villages they would be expected to have some knowledge of this wreck?

If the jungle had almost completely sealed the crash from view in only 8 years, with no jungle native reports during that time, it would probably have been completely sealed within a few more years. I got the impression from the article that either natives don't inhabit that area, or that they were unaware of the wreck. By now it would probably take sophisticated electronics from the air to locate what the jungle is hiding.

And talking about findings, where is the Japanese version in all of these findings concerning crashed aircraft in the area? Did they have Lockheed 10/14 in their inventory at one time?

Does anyone know about a Japanese Aviation website to inquire about this mystery? Poss photos/ID plates of an Lockheed 10E somewhere in the S. Pacific? I'm sure they have some A/E buffs in that side of the world too!!

TIGHAR offers us A/E buffs a Bulletin/Article of a poss Electra found somewhere in the S. Pacific. But after close examination/investigation they are not 100% sure of what type of aircraft that is? Lockheed 10E/Buff/FAH619
