This is a very early photo I took in 1987, on the evening before an Airshow. It´s Buchón D-FEHD, flown by Walter Eichhorn, owned by Hans Dittes. After the Airshow W. Eichhorn flew over the Channel for filming "A Piece Of Cake". Some years later the Buchón got a DB 605 and was remade as Bf 109 G-10 Black 2, later sold to Messerschmitt-Foundation, now flying as Yellow 3. Registration is D-FDME.

Another favorite photo is the air 2 air photo of FHC´s Fw 190 by Jim Larsen. Although there are many very good pics of this bird, I like this one most:

I've not learned (well..took the time to learn) how to post pictures but my favorite A2A shoot was just this past May. I rode in the back of Ken Laird's Tora Val to shoot Gerald Yagen's freshly restored FM-2. We were just 1,000 feet over the Atlantic and because of a radio problem I had to communicate with both the Val pilot and Wildcat with hand signals. Luckily, we had briefed that for a comm failure and the flight went off without a hitch. The benefit of no radio was all I could hear was motor and wind. It was magical.

For photos and story check out Warbird Digest #37...then subscribe! :D

Ironically, the Val was the subject of my very first warbird A2A in 2007. Lastly, when I was strapping into this "Japanese" aircraft I looked down at the rudder pedals and chuckled....they said "Vultee"!

One of my dreams/goals is to do some A2A. I just recently became a photographer for the Valiant Air Command Museum. So I'm hoping that dream will come true soon. :D

I hope you don't mind that some of us old guys hate you young guys just a little bit :)

Unfortunately all my A2A are of military aircraft not Warbirds but I do have a favorite Warbird picture I shot on the ground at Lakeland April 2011. At first glance I though that "Crazy Horse II" had gained a pin-up but it turns out I was just "Blonde Crazy".

And more power to you, kid.

I remember how much it meant to me to rub elbows on some rebuild project with a wrench from WWII, and to have him look over my work and comment, "Not bad...not bad at all". My only regret is the number of times I failed to tell them how much their approval meant to me. Of course, in most cases, it's now too late.

And so my thanks to all the young gentlemen and ladies who have been "bitten by the bug" and turn wrenches or move joysticks on so much old metal. We know your friends and spouses may look at you sideways for it (as does my beloved better half), but we wish you all the best in your efforts at perpetuating what we old farts truly hold near & dear.

Conrad: Not bad...not bad at all. :drink3:

This is the best I've been able to capture. From the MAAM airshow in 2007, not sure whose P 40 this is though.
