I've never understood why there isn't a Centaurus Tempest flying.
I had always through that the motor with it's sleeve valves was the obstacle but there seems to be five blade Furies in the air and more under rebuild so people are overcoming any engine difficulties.
Is it the case that the Tempest II made the mistake of existing in between the Second and the Korean wars and so doesn't have the appeal of types connected with combat?

nelson told me he was planning a 3350 fot this prject, like the sea fury exchange he does, because they are so much easier to find and to work on. but i think he has the orginal that might be able to be used as a core if some one needed it.

Has anybody made a formal application to them?

mike i don't live in the uk so i don't know for sure but iirc the uk caa doesn't allow reegining of historic aircraft(there are no r3350 seafuries on the uk register for instance)i don't know if anyone has made a formal inquiry though.it also seems to be one of the holdup's on the tfc beaufighter as there are no known serviceable props for the correct model Hercules.
i do think it amazing that no one in the us hasn't done one yet, there is a finished airframe in the uk waiting for a motor as well.
