as a merchant w/ 2 retail stores who deals w/ thieves / shoplifters regularly, i commend the thieves for stealing something 10 thousand times the size of a toaster & get away w/ it!!

Any update on this story?
Lots of humour in the responses so far, but no answer to my immediate questions on reading the first post.
Why (and how) would anyone steal a F104 and what would they plan to do with it?
It seems a lot of effort for a prank and would require access to a lot of gear, crane, lowloader etc which should make locating the culprits easy.
The ridiculous 6.36m wing span must have made the task easier.

The original story, as reported on the BBC at least, was that it was a 1/3 scale display model/ sculpture.
There is, evidently, a tradition of well organized pranks in Holland around this time of year, and that it's discovery is anticipated on New Years Day. Where they will find it is another question.

Thanks - a 1/3 scale model is more plausible (but not nearly as much fun)

Deelen Museum is a great place, I highly recommend a visit.
Their coffee is good too.
