DaveM2 is referring to a foursome of pilots serving with 4./JG 27, which would regularly go out into the desert and strafe sand dunes, then come back and file victory claims with each pilot vouching for the other. When word got out this was going on, they were disciplined and ostracized due to their lack of honor, and the Staffelkapitän intentionally took his own life by crashing his aircraft into the Med.
