George Welch was interesting, first USAF pilot to score a kill in WWII (at Pearl Harbor, where shot down four airplanes). He was killed at Edwards testing an F-100.

The article pretty much ignores Ken Taylor who scored 2 confirmed and 2 probables while being wounded. Taylor helped reform the 44th FS and did 3 combat tours from Guadalcanal scoring the squadron 1st kill which was a Oscar over Guadalcanal in Jan. 43. Has a Brig. Gen he commanded the Alaska ANG has did his son who is also Brig. Gen Taylor!

Pardon.."round time"?

Stearman then AT-6 front and back the more the better!

i see many thanks.

Question:

Is the Stearman a necessary and/or smart step up to the AT-6, for a pilot who has:

Taildragger endorsement
Complex endorsement
High power endorsement (300 hp)

?

Is there something between a 300 hp HP plane and the Stearman that should be taken first?

thanks
