Re: FIFI's 2012 east coast schedule

Any plans for something else in New England?
KBDL is a bit of a haul for people Up north, and we would love to have it up here sometime.

KBVY is a great spot for the Collings guys in the fall, it was once their best stop of the year.
KLWM is also a good turnout, and they have a very active EAA chapter that has hosted The Trimotor, AO and Liberty Belle.

:)

I suspect that the minimum field requirements for the B-29 have to be a bit different than the B-17 or the B-24. With Beverly being only 100 ft wide, taking a 142 foot wingspan aircraft in there may be tight. KLWM may be a possibility as it is 150 feet wide, but it is only 5000' long, and I do not know what they require for runway length. All of the airports that they have listed on the schedule seem to be in the 6500'x150' range or larger, so that may be their operating limitation.

This fellow is entitled to his opinion. There are a few examples of nose art out there that don't trip my trigger too. Sounds like you hated the entire transformation, and for that I am sorry, but ALOT of people worked their asses off to make it so, beyond just changing the name. As a result it won an award at Oshkosh. I don't think as Diamond Lil, it ever won anything. I'd say that all of us involved are pretty proud of that. Even if they paint it pink, that period in time will always be special to me, no matter what for the effort put forth and the friendships made. As for the "childish" comment, have you ever heard of Disney? Or their war effort? No? Look it up. Not ALL nose art was titties and asses. And the 19-21 year old kids flying them certainly appreciated cartoon characters more so than the 60 year olds flying them all today.

Django, I'm one of the B-29/B-24 squadron members who like your artwork on the B-24. Thank you! As I said in a previous posting I thought we should have done your Ol' 927 on the left and the American flag on the right side of the nose. Thanks again!

Certainly anyone who posts at WIX is entitled to express an opinion.

However...

1) Whereas the gentleman who painted the "Ol' 927" nose art is a regular poster on WIX, and

2) Whereas the gentleman who originated the name of "Ol' 927" is no longer able to respond to your expressed opinion,

Be it hereby resolved that "bombadier29" has been justly awarded the following certificate of achievement:

Where in Baltimore are the B-29 / B-24 going to be located? BWI? I don't think there are too many other airstrips in the area that can handle the B-29. I know when the CAF was doing shows in Frederick in the 90s and early 00s, the B-29 had to fly in from Martinsburg, WV.
