For myself this was an odd year at Geneseo. I had many opportunities that kept me from experiencing the show as I normally do. I really can’t give an airshow report as I usually do. Like everyone I highly anticipated the Lancaster at Geneseo. I heard from a CWH member the Lanc had a mechanical and will need parts before it can take to the air again. These things happen unfortunately. For my wife and I Geneseo has become more of a family gathering then anything else. It was great seeing everyone and as always our time together was to short.

Despite weather and no-shows it is always a pleasure to meet once a year in “Austin’s backyard”. Bernadette, Nathan and myself look forward to seeing everyone again next year.

A special mention for Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association pilot, Bill Shepard, who is the latest pilot to be checked out on the Red Tail P-51C. Bill is seen here flying the Red Tail over Conesus Lake.

I was highly disappointed in this years line up. I live and grew up locally and have went to all the shows since the 80's. I have been going Sat and Sun for probably the past 5 years. So i went down there mid morning on Sat and by 2pm i had left and did not return Sun which really says a lot i think because i could not have imagined not being at that show when i live 5 mins away in yrs past. There were really only really like 6 planes there that were really worth seeing (all the other planes are fun to watch but they arent what sell the tickets to be honest). The C-130 demo this year comprised of only 3 passes on Sat, there was no jet demo and very few big time warbirds. I understand that there are many reasons why it is much harder to book planes these days than in the past but unfortunately that doesnt change the fact that the show just wasnt very exciting this year. I hope this is not a trend that is going to continue as Genny has been the highlight of my summer for many years but i feel like people should hear my opinion of things because i personally know a lot of people who feel the same and i hope it may do some good as far as future shows. I hope i didn't offend anyone, as i said before, i know it is not easy or cheap to book a good line up nowadays but it is what it is and i hope something is done to liven up next years show. The more tickets are sold, the more money is brought in to the museum, and to sell more tickets we need to have a lot of warbirds parked down on that field for the show.....

One quick thing before I go to Dinner,
I was very impressed by the Stearman Guys on Saturday.
They went over and above, literally, to make it the most impressive display I have ever seen.
The 4 ship portion of the show made some of the bigger lenses stay up longer than normal.
I watched several guys watch the whole stearman segment more than I thought I would ever see.

The were climing and turning them more than usual, it was neat to see them churn it up a bit.

:)

Ken, You are so right about the Stearman guys. It was the most entertaining racetrack I’ve ever seen flown. Some of the images I caught.

Great pictures everyone, thanks for sharing. Eric, I love the Stearman shots, looks like they put on a fun display.

I think the 1941 HAG has a great museum, I love that you can see an A-20, A-26 and B-23 all together in one spot. 8)

Now I just need to get there and visit!

And two C-47s! I've too noticed the exceptional amount of Douglas hardware on the field. But we need more Curtiss, Republic, Grumman and Bell products!

Curious if the Lanc flew at its home base on Sunday? It was on the CWHM schedule for member rides on July 14th.

The CWH people told our people that they blew out 2 tach's, and they were not able to make it in.

My video from 2012 is finally up on YT:

http://www.youtube.com/user/ptbpilot

In spite of the no shows, I really got some great footage of what we did have flying and I was impressed. It appears that for 2013 the HAG is really trying to get back to warbirds at heart for Gennie considering what happened last year. And I really hope it all comes together. I so want to see that Mossie!

Cheers,
Peter

A Hercules and a Blackhawk! How did that happen? Or, is the United States Military reversing their 2013 policy of no demos, flybys or statics?

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.
