This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Seems awfully inexpensive considering the going price for SE warbirds..(heck, Raytheon wants $1 for a Baron nowdays).
And thats why they are broke.Didnt they just file chapter(pickanumber) just a short time back?

The company painting this gorgeous machine, Airspray Ardmore, has a photo album on Facebook to allow the curious to follow the work as it is done:
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 188&type=1The last update was an hour ago showing the topside green going on the airframe....who knew watching paint dry was so exciting!

The camo scheme is looking great, but what I can't wait to see is which of the six 487Sqn Jericho Mossies will this aircraft depict.

I love it! The code letters chosen, taken a few different ways, is a great homage. It's been such a great project to follow, and as the days count down to the big event, I'm really pulling for all the guys involved - extraordinary work.

A nod to the owner perhaps

That was my first thought as well. Beautiful scheme though. I'm still not on Facebook myself, but I have been looking at the photos and videos on the AvSpecs page. There was a photo on there of a Mossie with numerous bomb mission markings and they were asking about the identity of the aircraft. Wonder if some nose art will follow?

I didn't state that there was no known photo of EG-Y. If I did, I put it wrong in the Private Message I sent you Chris. I have not personally seen a photo of Y but I'm not sure if there is or isn't one.
I'd also like to say that the 'vain' comment is Chris's, not mine. I think it's a bloody great code to use.

We were at Jerry's place today delivering the 1911 Curtiss back after a show, and the rumor (emphasize rumor) among the staff was that the Mosquito was going to England for a while before coming back to the US. Again, just a rumor as far as I know, but from the home team....

I'll certainley be keeping my fingers crossed that rumour will come to fruition.
I wonder if Jerry has a thought about it being here in the UK for a late winter flight across the Channel from Hunsdon to France and an overfly of Amiens on Feb 18th 2013

Fabulous picture Mark. I'd love to see as many Mosquito wrecks recovered from around the globe and get an 'ole Mossie factory rolling again.
Something else about the squadron code- not only is there Y for Yagen, but G for Gerald!
