Used to spend a lot of time in your area. Well...close anyway. Ex #1 was from Manitowoc so we used to go to the sports car races in the 60's at Road America. That was back when they raced Ferraris, Maseratis, Jags, Allards, Austin Healys, Alfas, etc. Not these things they call sports cars today.

How does the CAF Airsho' stand any more? I haven't seen it mentioned unless I overlooked it. It's been about 30 years, 31 to be exact I think since I went. My dad and I used to take in a couple of smaller shows within 100 or so miles of home back then but Harlingen was our big vacation trip. I even got excused from high school a couple of years to go all 4 days. I think my fav year was '78, beside '76 which was my first year. I think my last, '81, it rained all weekend.

Ok, going by the responses I think Duxford is priority one on my list to attend.

Somehow I can't stop thinking about how could a super show be organised, whereby you would see the B29, B24's, 17's, 25's in attendance in one show and perhaps the best of British like the Lancaster. Obviously it takes money and loads of organisation but could it be done?

Flying Legends, probably the essential warbird show to visit. Chino is excellent, but the location and activity at Duxford has an edge. If you're at Duxford, go to Old Warden for a Shuttleworth airshow as well; best venue for regular historic airshow flying in the world. IMHOs, of course.

Leemme think now. There wasn't a B-24 there, cos it broke the week before, but it was booked - but I think you've just described the Canadian Warplane Heritage 40th Anniversary Airshow in June this year...
There was all of the above, less the B-24A as we mentioned, plus a flying Fleet Fort! Be there. I was.

I haven't been to Duxford or Chino, yet. One of these decades. But, I'm getting old, so I think I'd be willing to give the left one to go back to Chuck Wentworths party one more time.
