Not the most awe-inspiring nose art but I think it looks similar to a lot of original B-29s.

Reminds me of this one:

Does that mean they don't have a clear coat? I know we had all USAF A/C painted silver to represent bare metal. USAFM probably has more $$$$ to restore their A/C more than cosmetically as many field museums can. Many of our A/C were ABDR birds and a lot of metal was replaced.

Too bad the museum didn't catch the period-incorrect "0" before paint.

I'd agrue that the serial...without the "0" is still the serial. In AF records, the serial remains the serial..tell me the AF changed all their paperwork to add an "0" for all the old aircraft! I don't think so. :?
Perhaps not how it's displayed on older aircraft...but since airplane isn't going anywhere...and there won't be confusion with a newer aircraft with that serial, I bet he NMUSAF (or whoever owns it) would let it slide.

Besides, after some of the abomination paint schemes perpetuated on UMUSAF airframes under AF control...usually at AF bases..they don't have much of a leg to stand on. :)
