With our government protecting us, makes me wonder how anyone survived the greatest generation during WW2. Lots of pilots were exposed to radiation that are still with us. Kind of makes me wonder if the science is flawed.

The amount of radiation emitted by a radium dial is very small...it is roughly equivalent to the normal level of background radiation we already experience just living on the Earth. However, radium paint can theoretically flake from the dials and be ingested (the cause of significant health problems for the people who used to paint the dials), which can cause a lot of serious health problems. So, like lead-based paint before it, the government has deemed it evil and in need of disposal, most likely in a landfill in China.

When the EPA showed up they threw him off of his own property and locked the place down.
He had no say or ability to save things including Corsair fuel float level senders NIB and stick grips ect. Many non-instrument items.
They took his property and destroyed it, tore down his buildings and sent him the bill.
