This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Well, then Adapt and Improvise.

I agree with the last two postings.

The original idea was to appoint one or more people who could assist in monitoring the messages and to either warn or outright delete any offensive, out of place postings.

Having them acting behind the scenes, would be fine with me.

You will never please all of the people, and true, someone will always accuse you of taking sides on any issue, especially when the decission taken goes against you.

So, I am for it. The purpose of this thread, is to chew the fat on this idea. If it turns out that either Scott, or the majority decides it is not a good idea, then so be it. But at least we can exchange points of view like adults.

I agree with Steve, it didnt work on Flypast and it wont work here. There isnt a lot wrong with this board.

As for Rob Rohr as a mod, ...... :o

Hi All

I agree with the quiet way but Scott has to put way too much time into this so a bit of quiet help won't hurt.

Steve there's no way I would see it working like the other place or I definately wouldn't be interested as you would realise better than most I am not a fan of their system.

I guess I was thinking it would work the way Patty says in any case - it isn't broken now but the time factor is an issue for Scott and why should he do it all. Flypast is run at the end of the day by comercial interests this one is a "seat of the pants" site so we have slightly different motivations in the management here.

I have resisted the urge to appoint more moderators mainly for the problems referred to on the flypast board. I think additional moderators might cause more problems than they would fix at this time. One thing that can help is that if you see a problem the report it to me or Dan via a PM or myself through an e-mail. This allows me to be efficient with my time in regards to fixing a problem. I would request that no one respond to any attacks or antagonism directly, just point it out to me or Dan and we will deal with it.

I think if we do this then the need for additional moderators will be minimized.

Thoughts?

Scott and all WIXERS:

As expected, this "clone" (chapin01) has shown up.

For your information, I am registered as chapin01 at the KeyPublishing forums. In consequence, this is a clone (if you notice the Keypublishing forums, I sign my postings with my name, although I am registered with the nick chapin01).

If you check the postings by chapin01 in this forum, you will also notice that they closely follow any postings that I have made, to either jab or to demean Guatemala as a country, or to attempt -read, attempt- to demean me as an individual.

It is precisely for these kinds of postings, that I proposed a closer monitoring of the proceedings here.

No, I am not even remotely interested in the position of forum monitor / manager or whatever the title is.

And I would reject any suggestion or nomination for that position. Why? Because I have already dealt with you (in one of your many incarnations) at the laahs.com boards and the experience left a very sour feeling in my stomach.

So, your "lots of us know you want the job" is just a falacy. Who are the "us" who "know" this?

" Then,if it ain't broke,why fix it? "

The correct term, clone, is

broken.

You fix something that is broken.

Broke, is related to personal finances.

I have yet to see an informed, documented and more to the point, AVIATION related posting from this clone "chapin01"

All you do, is to follow my posts with some inane comment. It doesn't goad me, it doesn't bother me, it just shows your shallow thought processes.

My name is Tulio Soto.

And, more to the point:

chapin01 has now evolved into this:

chapin_01

the underline between the letters and the numbers, allow the impostor to fool the computer program and be accepted as a new / different user.

Checking on the WIX memberlist, sorted by date of join and in descending order, we find this:

36 chapin01 06 Aug 2005 8
1 chapin_01 07 Sep 2005 1

chapin_01 registered today, and of course his first posting is aimed at me.

As I have explained before, these are the kind of tactics that Mr what's his name and his associate continuously employ.

And for this reason, it is advisable to have a close monitoring of the proceedings at WIX.

My sincerest apologies to the WIXers, for bringing forth these individual's idiosyncracies.

We should be discussing airplanes, not dealing with their repeated and already well known attacks.

Tulio wrote:Another Forum Moderator?

The recent -and regrettable- incidents that have taken place in this forum, where issues belonging to other web-sites were brought here to roost, have made me think about the need of having an involved monitoring of the forum's proceedings, in order to maintain the postings and the posters in their proper context.

Trends should be identified early on, to avoid them becoming troublesome issues if not "cut at the pass" as it were.

Thus, I would like to suggest to Scott and to the WIXers, the appointment of an additional forum moderator, and these are the people that I would like to propose for this role.

Mike Henniger

Setter

Rob Rohr

TimApNy

BDK

Tom Friedman

Aircraft Mech Paul

These names and user-id's, I propose based not only on the number of their postings, but also on their clearly evidenced knowledge on the subject of Warbirds, aviation in general, and their participation in the WIX forums.

Your opinions will be appreciated.

GASP...!!!

Boy did THIS come out of nowhere ! Tulio, I really want to Thank You for the vote of confidence, I admit that of late I haven't done a whole lot of reading here or participating in the conversation...mainly due in part to a more pressing personal issue. So with this kind word on my behalf I am thinking I should spend a touch more time reading here. :) , to see if my name is brought up more in conversation....at least I'll have to see if there is more talk behind my back

i can't believe that people actually take the time to complicate the lives & interests of others. the point being that they go to the lengths that they do to gum up up the works etc speaks volumes as to their character, honesty & integrity as repectable people. that equation equals slime :finga: get a life & use your time in a positive manner. tulio, i salute you in your efforts to keep pollution from this board. you are the e.p.a. of the warbird community.

the chapin01 and chapin_01 accounts have been eliminated and those names are now illegal to use

re:
No Spoofing - There will be no "spoofing" of other users identities, either from the WIX forum or other forums. The use of names already in use or close variantions will not be tolerated. Posts that violate this rule will be erased and I will traceroute your ip and ban you. If an exsisting member uses a fake id to spoof someone elses id then that person will be banned and every post he has ever made will be deleted. I do not take this lightly and will treat such actions seriously. So do everyone a favor, don't do it.

Scott: I know how much work it involves to monitor a forum of this size. On top of your daily work, you still have to use a lot of your personal time to monitor postings and to continue updating the web-page.

I am 100% willing to report to you or to Dan, via e-mail as you noted in your message above.

Scott, guys, thank you for taking notice of these events, and Scott, thank you for swiftly acting on this.
