I didn't know my simple asking for a little direction to see the aerial shot of the storage yard would be such a big deal.

You're right, it's not a big deal and I wasn't trying to pick on you. It's important for me to be respectful on WIX, I'm sorry if I seemed a bit tough. But the stuff thats there has some value to his business and Mr. Scholl has expressed some displeasure directed at online postings that have identified the whereabouts of his storage site, which resulted in a small storm of folks arriving trying to get onto the property. Don't know if it originated with WIX or another site, I hope not WIX. This was a few years back. Try stepping into his shoes for a moment to get some idea of his concern. I passed his request along here asking to refrain from posting too much, and to remind some folks it is private property, not a museum. It's up to folks to try to respect that. Having said that, this is a freely available forum and freely expressed information is what we're all about, so there's nothing inherently wrong with knowing about where its at. I found the storage site online anyway, without assistance, by being persistant and creative about how to search. I suppose we can PM each other too.
Well unfortunately, and(or) fortunately, depending on the point of view and the issue, the proliferation of technology has happened at the sacrifice of some privacy. Anyone with an internet browser (they have these on refrigerators now) can have access to detailed satellite images. There is a whole hobby around mapping various interesting (and some uninteresting) locations. Geocachers, warbird nerds, etc. all have the ability to search out anything they want in an instant. This is even the case with once completely inaccessible government properties.
I do wish we lived in a society where people would be more respectful of other peoples’ things and it is sad that we have to keep a loaded shotgun and a junk yard dog around to keep people from misbehaving. I don’t think this is a problem of today’s making. When you read about Lindberg he had to repair the “Spirit of St Louis” prior to departing Paris because it was damaged by those trying to take home a souvenir. The “Memphis Belle” was stripped within a decade of being on open public display.
I've known Carl my whole life and I know and understand his frustration with it, but it has been an issue for a couple of decades now. I wish there was a good answer, but I think it is hard to place much blame on WIX or other similar sites. The fact is that “Scholl’s Ranch” or whatever we want to call it has been subject to stories in various warbird rags for year long before you could Google it. Like anything else that has a following, it is a double edged sword. Fame will happen at the sacrifice of privacy. While Carl and Tony aren’t Brangelina, but when it comes to warbird mythology they are close to royalty.
