Great stuff! That B-17 with the JB-2s - there was a lot of JB-2 testing done in Wendover and I wonder if this from my neck of the woods. . .

Wow. I never really realized how BIG the YB-35 was until I saw this.

are those captured v-1's under the b-17, or repros gleaned & built from the captured technology?? we'll never see formations / quantities of aircraft like that ever again. 1 current aircraft cost today probably doesn't come close to many of those formation pics combined!!

Regarding the B-17 with the XB-35: the actual date of the photo is May 1948. (I have an original press photo from Northrop with dates and press-release captions.) It appears this photo was staged to give the Flying Wing a comparator for PR purposes. The B-17 (46935) apparently was used as a support aircraft at Edwards for several years after the war, at least through 1949.

In the picture with the B-52. I wonder if that was a test and eval bird. it could have been a "A" model if you noticed it doesn't have any tail guns neither the quad .50's or 20mm as in that case it would have been a RB-52B. I also noticed it didn't have any wing tanks as well.
